Born and raised in Chicago, Michael attended Evanston Township High School, where he excelled as a football linebacker and defensive end, graduating in 2004 as a two-year starter. Unfortunately, a torn MCL during his freshman football season prevented him from pursuing basketball at that time. Following high school, he pursued his education at the College of DuPage and Oakton Community College. Coach Bentley’s coaching journey began at the Y.M.C.A. during his college years in 2007, and since then, he has dedicated over a decade to coaching with ALL IN, spanning various levels of competition. Additionally, Coach Bentley has proudly served as a head coach in the Deerfield Young Warriors feeder program for many years. With 15 years of experience as an educator, he seamlessly integrates teaching principles into his coaching philosophy, fostering holistic player development. Coach Bentley’s passion for sports extends beyond basketball, as he’s also coached baseball and football, instilling values of discipline and teamwork across multiple arenas.
